Police officials in Newark are asking for the public’s help in locating Jamarcus Fennel, 35, of Pennsylvania, who is wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting that took place on September 1, 2025.

Officials said the city’s ShotSpotter detection system registered gunfire at approximately 9:18 a.m. on Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard near Oriental Street.

Responding officers canvassed the area and recovered six 9mm shell casings.

Investigators identified Fennel, who has known ties to New Jersey, as a person of interest.

He is described as 5’8” tall, weighing between 170 and 185 pounds, with brown eyes.

Authorities say he is the registered owner of the vehicle pictured below, an orange and black 2015 Ford Mustang with Pennsylvania plates MVG7064.
