PEORIA, Ariz. — Some Arizona Democratic lawmakers are making a new plea to the Trump administration, asking for the release of Kelly Yu from ICE detention.

She’s a West Valley restaurant owner who’s been facing deportation for months.

Lawmakers are telling officials that Yu has no criminal history, and has a legal path to stay in the U.S. The situation has been tough for the mother and business owner, who spoke to 12News in July from ICE detention.

“We didn’t do anything wrong,” Yu said. “We’re not criminals. I'm a provider in our family. I'm a caretaker to my daughter, my husband and my mom. Taking me away from my family, it's very difficult."
