Each year, the Louisiana State Penitentiary holds its Angola Prison Rodeo , which has been hosted annually since 1965.

The rodeo features inmates who have volunteered to compete in events, as well as a market for inmate-made arts and crafts.

The event is held at the maximum-security prison , which can be found at 17544 Tunica Trace in St. Francisville.

Angola Prison Rodeo events are held on one weekend in April and on every Sunday during October.

Tickets for the Angola Prison Rodeo for October 2025 are on sale online , with the first rodeo event set to take place on Sunday, Oct. 5.

All tickets are priced at $20 per person, with children two years or younger able to enter for free as long as they sit on laps.
