Details are emerging in the shocking slaying of a well-known retired Auburn University professor .

Harold Rashad Dabney III is charged with two counts of capital murder in connection with the death of Julie Gard Schnuelle, 59, according to the Auburn Police Department. Schnuelle was a professor emerita at the university's College of Veterinary Medicine, where she specialized in treating large animals, the AU website shows.

Dabney could not be reached for comment and court records show he doesn't have an attorney. Auburn police originally said Dabney was from Montgomery, but court records show an address for him in Lee County.
