NORTH LOGAN, Utah (KSL) - After a Utah grandfather collapsed while visiting his new granddaughter at the hospital, his family is crediting the baby with his survival, saying her birth put him just seconds away from medical help when he needed it the most.
Baby Gia was born last Wednesday at Cache Valley Hospital. She was healthy and, right away, her family’s whole world. The next day, her grandparents, Toby and Valerie Alt, came to meet their very first grandchild.
“My dad got up to kind of move around because he was getting some heartburn… All of a sudden, he just rolls over and falls to the ground,” said Aintzane Simpkins, Gia’s mother and the Alts’ daughter.
