Canada's first professional women's soccer league announced its plans Monday (Sept. 8) to add a new team to the league for the 2027 season.
The Northern Super League (NSL) comprises six teams: Vancouver Rise FC, Calgary Wild FC, Halifax Tides FC, Montréal Roses, Ottawa Rapid FC, and AFC Toronto. The inaugural season kicked off in April 2025.
“The NSL has always had a steady growth strategy in mind, and the current expansion plans are a direct result of that vision, combined with an exciting and competitive first season that delivered on our expectations,” said Christina Litz, president of the NSL.
The NSL has started the expansion process and is working with the Whitecap Sports Group (WSG ) , an international investment bank and advisory group, to lead the expansion process.
