Two women have been identified as the individuals who died in the crash on the Coquihalla Highway on Friday, Sept. 5.

Around 9 p.m., police received calls about a vehicle driving the wrong way in the northbound lanes on the Coquihalla Highway just south of Kamloops, near Inks Lake. A few minutes later and before police could intercept the driver heading the wrong-way, a grey Dodge Ram pickup travelling south in the northbound lanes and a white Hyundai Kona hatchback collided head-on.

Two women who were in the white Hyundai Kona died as a result of the crash. They were 36 and 27 years old. Their next of kin has been informed.

Three other people suffered serious injuries, including two who were in the Kona as well as the suspected driver of the grey Dodge Ram pickup.
