BANGOR -- Governor Janet Mills read opening remarks at the 2025 Maine Affordable Housing Conference.
This conference brings together Maine lawmakers, housing experts, and residents to brainstorm innovative solutions for affordable housing statewide.
Governor Mills addressed different parts of the state that have developed new housing options, and how her administration dedicated $315 million to housing efforts.
A panel of lawmakers and housing experts also spoke about the impact in the legislature.
Stockton Williams, the executive director of National Council State Housing Agencies, mentioned a new bill called “Road to Housing.”
This will have 27 provisions such as rural housing, home repair, small mortgage lending, and disaster recovery.
