TAOS — The Taos County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the agency conducted a mission Saturday to recover the remains of a man who leapt from the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge.
It was the second suicide reported at the bridge in less than a week, leading to more calls by Sheriff Steve Miera for the state to address the lack of suicide prevention measures on the structure.
Ricky Serna, Cabinet secretary of the New Mexico Department of Transportation, said he and his agency “remain fully committed to working with local leaders, mental health professionals, and community advocates in pursuit of effective, compassionate, and meaningful solutions.”
