Six men were arrested and a Vauxhall Astra and a Renault van were seized when police swooped on the M6. At just before 1am this morning (September 9) Warwickshire Police officers clocked the two vehicles -both with suspicious number plates - were in the Rugby area.

The Renault van was found parked near HGVs on Castle Mound Way, close to the M6, and the force said that an unmarked cars began monitoring it. This came as the Vauxhall was being tracked on the motorway network.

"Working together we used three cars to box in the Astra, bringing it to a stop, officers in Rugby surrounded the Renault van," a spokesperson for the force explained.

As a result four men in the Astra and two men in the van were arrested. They were taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit theft.
