SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) is seeking ideas for what should become of several vacant school properties.
In a press release, SAISD said it is now accepting proposals from qualified organizations for the lease and repurposing of several vacant district-owned buildings and grounds.
The district invites community-based partners to propose innovative uses for the vacant properties—so long as those uses "align with community needs and further a district purpose."
This comes after several facilities were closed as a result of SAISD's "right-sizing" initiative , amid issues stemming from decreasing enrollment at San Antonio's third-largest district and a simultaneous lack of facility reduction.
Last fall, the district launched a survey to gather input from
