PEORIA, Ill. (WAND) - OSF HealthCare has been awarded $2.5 million from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to advance how hypertension is managed.

Nearly half of all adults in the U.S. live with high blood pressure. It is one of the nation's leading risk factors for cardiovascular disease and premature death.

As one of 42 health systems nationwide participating PCORI's Health Systems Implementation Initiative, OSF will use the project to strengthen patient-centered strategies for hypertension care in 123 adult primary care practice sites and over 100,000 patients.
