The Red Sox are set to give another rookie pitcher his MLB debut.

Connelly Early, a left-handed starter who was a fifth-round pick by Boston in 2023, is reportedly being called up to make his first career start on Tuesday night against the Athletics. Meanwhile, Red Sox starter Dustin May is set to head to the Injured List per Foul Territory .

The 23-year-old Early is a combined 10-3 with a 2.60 ERA and 132 strikeouts in 100.1 innings at multiple levels of minor league baseball in 2025. After starting the year at Double A Portland, Early was promoted to Triple A Worcester in August.

Since then, he’s compiled a 3-1 record in six starts with a 2.83 ERA (with 36 strikeouts over 28.2 innings).
