GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An analysis conducted by a team of researchers at Tufts University found that Michigan had the highest jump in young voter turnout in the 2024 presidential election.
The data was published earlier this year by the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement.
According to CIRCLE, 47% of young Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 cast a ballot in the 2024 presidential election — a drop from the 50% turnout in 2020 but much higher than the 39% turnout in 2016.
In Michigan, youth turnout rose four points, from 54% to 58%. Michigan had the third-highest youth vote in the nation, behind only Minnesota (62%) and Maine (60%). Michigan also tied with Nevada for the third-highest turnout rate for voters aged 18 and 19 at 55%. Once again, Mi
