DENVER (KDVR) — Wildlife officials have determined a Colorado gray wolf that died earlier this year was suspected to have been hit by a vehicle.

Male gray wolf 2507, one of the wolves reintroduced to Colorado during the state's efforts to bring wolves back to the Centennial State, died in May. Officials conducted a necropsy on the wolf to determine what happened.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife on Tuesday morning said the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determined the wolf died from blunt force trauma "sustained during a suspected vehicle collision."

CPW said no additional information on the incident is available.
