Tennis Canada will bar spectators from a match it is hosting in Halifax this weekend between Canada and Israel owing to what it described as escalating concerns over safety.

The Davis Cup World Group I tie, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, will be played behind closed doors at the city’s Scotiabank Centre.

In a press release on Tuesday, Tennis Canada said it made the decision in consultation with the International Tennis Federation, “in light of escalating safety concerns.”
