HOWARDVILLE, Mo. (WSIL) -- Three earthquakes hit the Howardville area within the past several days.

The United State Geological Survey reported the three tremors were either in the city limits, or just outside of the community.

Howardville sits in New Madrid County, just southwest of New Madrid.

The first of the three quakes hit Howardville on September 4, at 12:11 a.m., with a magnitude of 1.1 and a depth of 5 miles.

The second quake hit just southeast of Howardville on September 8, at 3:18 a.m. The magnitude was 1.6 and had a depth of 4.5 miles.

The third quake hit just northeast of Howardville on September 8, at 8:16 a.m. The magnitude was 1.9 and had a depth of 5.5 miles.
