HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Animal Services announced Monday that capacity levels have decreased in the shelter due to support from the community.
Last week, the shelter shared that it was at Level 3 capacity for dogs and rapidly approaching Level 4 crisis mode. The kennels were overflowing, animals were doubled up and staff were stretched to the limit.
For cats, the shelter said it is at Level 2 capacity, meaning every kennel is full.
Monday, the shelter said, due to help from the community, both dogs and cats were down to Level 1 on the capacity level system, titled Comfort and Care.
What this means:
Less than 75 dog kennels/58 cat kennels are currently in use at our facility, and every animal has proper space, comfortable setups, and the chance to rest, recover, and enjoy
