INDIANAPOLIS — A man injured in an east Indianapolis shooting has died more than two months after the incident, IMPD announced Tuesday, Sept. 9.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, July 6 in the 3800 block of East New York Street , near North Sherman Drive. Responding officers located a man who had been shot, who was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Homicide detectives responded to begin an investigation, and on Sunday, Sept. 7, the man died at the hospital.

"This will be investigated as a homicide," an IMPD spokesperson said in a statement.

The Marion County Coroner's Office has not yet identified the man.

Police have not released information about a possible suspect or motive at this time.
