Tootsie Roll revisited a five-decade-long mystery with the release of a refreshed version of its 1970s "How Many Licks" commercial .

This new version, released Monday, features updated animation and voiceovers but stayed true to the original Tootsie Pop commercial released a half-century ago.

The updated commercial was a hit for many fans, with one commenter saying, "this is so well made! No redesign, just keep the same art style but now in full HD animation, it’s cool!"

Most commenters expressed joy in seeing Tootsie Roll's marketing decision with a simple remake of a classic commercial, but some observant fans called out the minor changes.

"They finally added some clothes on the boy!!!" one commenter added.
