NORRISTOWN — A jury has been seated for the trial of a Perkiomen Township man accused of using a hammer to brutally beat and kill his girlfriend during an altercation inside his apartment.

A jury of 12 and two alternate jurors was empaneled Tuesday afternoon in Montgomery County Court to weigh evidence presented at the trial of William Roy Carey Jr., 47, of the 500 block of Gravel Pike, who faces charges of first- and third-degree murder and possessing an instrument of crime in connection with the alleged Nov. 1, 2024, fatal beating of his girlfriend, Jessica Zipkin, during a domestic disturbance inside the Gravel Pike apartment.

The lawyers were expected to give their opening statements to the jury later Tuesday, followed by the testimony of the initial prosecution witnesses.
