KINGSTON — Canadian Wollastonite, a Seeley’s Bay-based mining company, has signed a three-year deal to provide 450,000 tonnes of its mineral-rich rock to a carbon sequestration company.
United Kingdom-based UNDO Carbon has agreed to use wollastonite in its rock weathering program for eastern Ontario farms.

In April, UNDO was named one of four global winners of the $100 million XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition for its operations in Eastern Ontario.
When wollastonite is spread on farm fields, not only does it capture and hold onto carbon dioxide from rainwater, it helps to stabilise soil pH, improve nutrient availability, and enhance crop resilience by strengthening plants, improving drought resistance and reducing the need for synthetic crop inputs.
