A 60-year-old man was seriously injured late Monday night after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash on Kawaiahao Street near Kamani Street, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Police said the incident happened around 11:40 p.m. when an unidentified vehicle traveling westbound on Kawaiahao Street hit the pedestrian, who was walking in the roadway. The driver did not stop to provide aid or information and continued westbound after the collision.

The victim was taken by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.

Investigators with HPD’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, are handling the case. At this time, it is unknown whether speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
