A new take on a horror classic is on the way.

Amazon MGM Studios just announced that David F. Sandberg will direct a reimagining of The Amityville Horror , via The Wrap .

The director helmed the Shazam! movies, as well as the 2025 adaptation of Until Dawn .

The script comes from Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing , the team behind The Conjuring: Last Rites , which has racked up nearly $200 million at the global box office already.

The original Amityville Horror movie, based on Jay Anson ‘s bestselling book, hit theaters back in 1979, and was later remade in 2005 with Ryan Reynolds and Chloe Grace Moretz . The story follows a family who moves into a seemingly perfect house with a terrifying past.
