Growing up, Nelson Brands watched his father, Terry, shape some of the world’s best wrestlers, first as an assistant under legendary coach Dan Gable, and later as associate head coach alongside his twin brother, Tom, both at the University of Iowa.

Now, after seven successful seasons wrestling at Iowa, Nelson will no longer be one of his dad’s athletes — he’ll be one of his colleagues.

The 26-year-old recently announced that he'll be serving as an assistant coach for the Eastern Iowa Wrestling Club, a youth wrestling team based in Iowa City. In this position, he will work alongside head coach Kolby Franklin and Terry Brands, who coaches exclusively on Sundays for children living within a 50-mile radius of Iowa’s practice center, in accordance with NCAA regulations .
