A 47-year-old man who was killed when his truck collided with a barrier wall on westbound Interstate 10 in Desert Hot Springs was identified Tuesday.

Alvin Cunningham of Menifee was fatally injured at about 1:45 p.m. Monday at the North Indian Canyon Drive off-ramp, according to the Riverside County coroner's office.

Cunningham, who was driving a Ford F-550, was traveling at a high rate of speed when the truck crashed into a concrete wall outside the curve that separates the on-ramp and off-ramp, according to Officer David Torres of the California Highway Patrol.

The truck continued through the wall and across a “clover-leaf” type on-ramp to westbound I-10, where it came to a complete stop on a “sloped dirt surface,” Torres said.
