MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Two men were arrested and booked into the Shelby County jail after allegedly shooting a man in the left side of his chest, left arm and left hand last Friday in Whitehaven, police say.

Jermaine D. Kennedy and Ja'Quezz Lamonta Kennedy are both charged with criminal attempt felony to commit first-degree murder and employment of a firearm during a dangerous felony.

On September 5 around 1:50 a.m. in the 3700 block of Millbranch Road, a male victim was critically injured after meeting with two men he was attempting to buy a gun from.

The man told police he was going to purchase a Glock 19 handgun for $390, but he saw one of the suspects with a hood on and the other one with a facemask on.

He said he knew they were going to rob him, so he declined purchasing the weapon.
