A 44-year-old Kenai man was arrested Thursday morning after police say he threatened officers and was reportedly pointing a rifle at vehicles along the Kenai Spur Highway.

According to the Kenai Police Department, officers were dispatched around 7:54 a.m. following multiple calls about a man near Mile 13, close to Anchor of Hope Church. One 911 caller told dispatchers he saw the man raise what appeared to be a rifle toward oncoming traffic and saw the weapon recoil, though he could not hear a gunshot. The caller said his young son was in the car at the time, and the encounter left him shaken.
