No one thought the weirdest NASCAR moment in St. Louis would come after the race ended. But Ross Chastain and Shane Van Gisbergen drove across the grass like kids at a fair, and it got everyone talking. Both Trackhouse Racing drivers had tough races, finishing 24th and 25th, but their actions after the race grabbed more attention than their results.

It didn’t help that the two are fighting for a playoff. Chastain sits just 19 points above the cut line with one race left in the round. Van Gisbergen trails by 15. With so much at stake, their unusual detour into the grass instantly raised eyebrows. Even Alex Bowman couldn’t resist pointing it out over the radio: “Hey, the Trackhouse cars are driving through the grass. That’s kinda cool.” His sarcasm was impossible to miss.
