The Denver Broncos have chosen a preferred site for their new stadium — and it’s only about a mile from where they already play.

Burnham Yard, a 58-acre site in Denver, is in line to be the Broncos' new home in 2031. The project would be “privately financed,” according to a Sept. 9 announcement from team owners Greg Penner and Carrie Walton Penner, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston.

The plan calls for a retractable-roof stadium as the catalyst for a new mixed-use development across the site.

“These shared public improvements will ensure benefits extend far beyond gamedays with better accessibility, connectivity and multimodal transit options,” the announcement said.
