SAGINAW, MI — Saginaw police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who claimed the life of a septuagenarian bicyclist.

About 8:22 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, police responded to the crash site near the intersection of East Holland Avenue/M-46 and South 15th Street on Saginaw’s East Side. They found 75-year-old David S. Pietras, who had been struck by a vehicle while pedaling his bicycle east on Holland.

The vehicle that struck Pietras fled before officers arrived. Paramedics drove Pietras to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Saginaw County Crash Team responded to process the scene. Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a dark colored, newer model, mid-size SUV with front end damage. The vehicle had been heading east on Holland before striking Pietras.
