(WFRV) - The Wisconsin Department of Transportation's Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is warning buyers and dealers to be on the lookout for used vehicles that may have been damaged in recent flooding.
A release from the Wisconsin DMV says flood damage can cause hidden mechanical or electrical problems that may not show up until months later. Dealers are legally required to disclose if a vehicle has flood damage, but consumers are encourages to take extra precautions.
“It may be difficult for consumers to identify whether recent floods have damaged a vehicle they are looking to purchase. Flood damage can be serious and not apparent until months after the flood. Dealers must clearly indicate if a vehicle they are selling has any flood damage,” Wisconsin DMV Dealer and Agent Section Chief
