Two Engineered Materials Arresting Systems (EMAS) helped safely stop two aircraft at different airports after they overshot the runway on September 3, 2025. The two incidents highlighted the importance of EMAS technology in preventing potentially catastrophic runway overruns.

The first incident involved a Gulfstream G150 at Chicago Executive Airport, while the second incident involved a Bombardier Challenger 300 at Boca Raton Airport. In both incidents, all people on board were safe and did not sustain any injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incidents.
