MADISON HEIGHTS, Va. (WDBJ) - A large police presence, with investigators from multiple agencies, has been gathered since early Tuesday in the Madison Heights area of Amherst County.

Investigators are gathered in the area of Holcomb Lane and Dixie Airport Road.

Investigators have not provided specific information about the nature of the incident, though the FBI has confirmed its presence as an assisting agency to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office.

When asked if this is a cold case investigation or follow-up to a tip, Amherst County Sheriff Jimmy Ayers told WDBJ7, “We don’t know exactly; it possibly could be... we are following up on a tip that came in to the FBI.”
