TAMPA, Fla. — A 100-year-old dance instructor at Tampa's Parks and Recreation centers was recognized by city officials for her passion.
Mayor Jane Caster and Parks and Recreation Site Supervisor Nina Acevedo honored Judith Baizan at a news conference Monday morning.
Baizan has been participating in and leading folk dance classes for more than 50 years.
"What's not to like about dancing?" Baizan said.
She was born in Michigan in 1925 and moved to Tampa in 1971 and immediately connected with Tampa's recreation centers. She taught dance in Forest Hills and was "instrumental in building a sense of community among other seniors in the neighborhood," according to a news release.
