The Coweta County Board of Commissioners approved a series of road projects at its meeting last Thursday.

During the meeting, the commissioners approved the purchase of 2.24 wetland mitigation credits for the Shaw Connector project with $336,000 of SPLOST funds.

Public Works Administrator Tod Handley said the Shaw Connector is a new road that will begin at the roundabout at the intersection of Shaw Road and Pete Road that serves the middle school.

The new road will connect Shaw Road with Fischer Road, Handley said, and will end near Northgate High School.

The wetland mitigation credits are required because construction will impact nearby wetlands. The county will need to purchase stream credits at a later date for the project.
