The Kansas City community is coming together to honor first responders who lost their lives on 9/11 and support families of fallen heroes. Advertisement

The second annual LJW 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will be held on Sept. 11 at Arrowhead Stadium.

Last year, more than 500 people participated in the climb. One step at a time, the climbers made 30 trips up and down the lower bowl of Arrowhead, which is the equivalent of 110 stories — the same distance first responders climbed when the World Trade Center was attacked in 2001.

The event was organized by Lexi Johnson, a local fitness expert.

"Last year was so cool because we had first responders; we had firefighters in full gear; we also had moms with kids on their backs," Johnson said. "To see both of those, just those worlds collide and
