SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) - A person has been hit and killed by a train in South Charleston, according to the South Charleston Fire Department.
According to Kanawha County Metro 911 officials, the incident happened just after 11:45 a.m. Tuesday near the Kanawha Turnpike. They say the Chestnut Street railroad crossing is shut down due to the incident.
Dispatchers are asking drivers to avoid the area at this time. WOWK has a crew heading to the scene.
