A motor vehicle stop conducted in response to a number of complaints about alleged fentanyl and crack cocaine sales in Willimantic reportedly turned up drugs and a weapon and netted the arrests of two brothers.

The stop was carried out as authorities were conducting surveillance in the area of Friendship Street and Ash Street on Sunday following numerous complaints of alleged drug sales, according to the Willimantic Police Department .

As police conducted the stop, the driver allegedly took off on foot and fled behind a house, disobeying orders from an officer to stop and allegedly ditching fentanyl as he ran, police said. The individual was apprehended after the officer chased him down, according to police.
