A brutal injury update has come out today on star tight end George Kittle and the San Francisco 49ers.
The Niners have already dealt with the injury bug this season, and are dinged up across the board with 17 players appearing on the team's injury report. Names like Trent Williams, George Kittle, rookie Mykel Williams, and Christian McCaffrey are all a part of this list as of today. George Kittle has been placed on IR, meaning he will be out a minimum of four weeks. It was an injury that Kittle would sustain against a week one matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Initial reports had indicated Kittle was going to be out three to five weeks.
The offense is suffering so far. Brock Purdy is also battling a pair of injuries, and Jauan Jennings is banged up as well. The team is hoping to remain healthy enough to get everyone back and be at full strength during the crucial month of November in the NFL. Kittle, who had just received an extension this offseason, feels like such a massive blow to the team at this point. In the meantime, the team will rely on Luke Farrell at tight end.
Farrell is good in the blocking game, but hasn't established himself as much of a receiving threat down the field. Jake Tonges is the other tight end who was able to catch a touchdown pass in the opener after Kittle left and did not return.
