GRAND CANYON, Ariz. (ABC4) — Incident management with the Dragon Bravo Fire has identified the firefighter who died of a cardiac emergency in the line of duty.
The firefighter has been identified as J. Hank Hester from Priest River, Idaho. He was 70 years old.
According to a press release from Southwest Area Incident Management Team 3, on Monday, September 8, Hester was working on hazard tree removal operations at the Dragon Bravo Fire when he suffered a cardiac emergency. Although line paramedics gave medical aid, their attempts to resuscitate Hester were unsuccessful.
"Our deepest condolences go out to the Hester family and friends during this very tragic time. Hank is a member of our wildfire family and will be deeply missed," Incident Commander Matt Rau said in a press release.
