FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A tentative agreement has been reached between Floyd County Public Schools and the Floyd County Education Support Professional Association (FCESPA) following a day of widespread bus driver absences that left parents scrambling to get students to school.
District leaders confirmed Tuesday that 32 bus drivers called out sick or were unavailable, forcing officials to ask families to transport their children. Several routes were left uncovered, and school leaders thanked parents for their cooperation.
Later in the day, the district and FCESPA announced a tentative agreement. Transportation members will now review the deal and hold a ratification vote in the coming days. FCESPA is a local affiliate of the Kentucky Education Association.
