Hospital workers protest proposed 'bubble zone' bylaw

Workers say the bylaw would stifle their ability to hold public demonstrations to express concerns about the health system.

The union representing thousands of health-care workers in Ottawa says it will fight “all the way to the Supreme Court” to protect workers’ fundamental rights to hold peaceful demonstrations outside hospitals and long-term care homes. Article content

Ottawa’s proposed bubble-zone bylaw would violate those rights for health workers, say union members and officials with the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions, the hospital division of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. Article content Article content
