OXFORD, Miss. (WJTV) – The trial has been continued for the man accused of killing University of Mississippi student Jimmie “Jay” Lee.
According to court documents, both the state and the defense in the Sheldon Timothy Herrington trial filed a motion to continue the trial, which was set to begin on October 13, 2025. The new trial date has been set for December 1, 2025, with jury selection commencing at 9:00 a.m.
Herrington was previously granted a change of venue motion. The court will conduct jury selection in a county that will be determined prior to trial. Once the jury has been selected, jurors will be transported to Lafayette County. The trial will take place at the Lafayette County Courthouse in Oxford.
