East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards has named an acting Chief Administrative Officer to take over his office's top spot as Charlie Davis moves to a new role.

Christel Slaughter, a Baton Rouge consultant whose firm, SSA Consultants, was recently picked to lead a search for LSU's next president, will take over as Edwards' chief administrator, the mayor said in a press release Tuesday.

Slaughter began as a partner for SSA in 1983 and has served as the firm's CEO since 2018.

In a statement Tuesday, Edwards said he was impressed by her leadership abilities and understanding of government.
