HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A feral cat that tested positive for rabies had contact with two people and two dogs, state health officials said Tuesday.

The animal was found near Glenwood Drive and Fair Bluff Highway in Green Sea. Officials said the gray, black and orange cat was known to be part of colony in the area and did not have a history of a rabies vaccine.

The cat was submitted to the state Department of Health for testing last Friday and was confirmed to have rabies Monday.

Horry County Animal Control is assisting with the investigation by working to identify additional feral or stray cats in the area that may have been exposed.
