SCRANTON, Pa. — An inmate is dead after an assault in Lackawanna County .

District Attorney Brian Gallagher says two inmates assaulted each other, leaving one inmate dead inside the Lackawanna County Prison around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. There is no word on the inmate's identity.

The Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office Detective Division and Pennsylvania State Police Troop R are investigating.
