RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - For the City of Reno, it is a weeklong effort.

Inside the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center on Tuesday, military veterans along with their spouses and caregivers got the chance to play some pickleball to get the week started. And there are plenty more activities to come.

“This afternoon we’re headed up to Sky Tavern to do a challenge course,” said April Wolfe of the City of Reno. “Tomorrow, water sports, we’re doing adaptive cycling, a rock wall, wheelchair football, so just a variety of sports all week.”

Darnell Calahan is an Army veteran who says he appreciates the camaraderie of activities like the ones taking place this week.

“Any kind of group you’re involved in, especially something like the military, there’s a sense of camaraderie once you get out.,” he
