Sales of the Calumet Region-made Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle rose by 22% in August, while sales of the Lincoln Aviator fell by 45.5%.

Overall, Ford and Lincoln sales rose by 3.9% to 190,206 units in August, up from 182,985 units during the same time last year.

So far this year, Ford sales have risen by 6.6% to 1,492,905 units, up from 1,400,341 through the first eight months of 2024.

Dearborn, Michigan-based Ford, one of the largest industrial employers in the bi-state Calumet Region, saw a 16.2% increase in electrified vehicle sales in August, with a 19.3% jump in electric sales and a 14.5% increase in electric sales. Sales of vehicles with gas-powered internal combustion engines grew by 2% in August.
