IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - As we head into respiratory illness season, the CDC reports about ten percent of tests for COVID are coming back positive.
This comes as questions remain regarding this year’s COVID vaccine, with the federal government changing who can get it under the guidance of RFK Jr., a vaccine skeptic.
Leaders at Towncrest Pharmacy in Iowa City said right now, they’re sitting in a gray area when it comes to this year’s COVID shots.
“We do have a statewide protocol to be able to vaccinate as a pharmacist and prescribe those vaccines as a pharmacist. So that authority comes from the ACIP. So that’s really what we’re waiting on to be able to determine will patients need a prescription, will they not need a prescription,” said Kaitlyn Yeates, Director of Clinical Operations
